A warm good morning (time check : 12.34 a.m.) to my lovely nurturing classmates and all the passerbys,

Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS to everyone for their really good Chinese O level results, and all the best to everyone who's resitting for the exam, I believe all of you ( including me, who's resitting too ) will excel with increased input of effort.

Secondly, I sincerely hope everyone who considers themselves a part of Four nurture '06 will be willing to contribute to this blog by posting because it's Four Nurture's blog, not mine, nor a group of people of micro-proportions, it's a blog for us, a family, a team.

Thirdly, I've a few study tips for you guys, it works for me, maybe you can try it out (:

1) When it comes to hard core memorising texts, don't seek to memorise. Instead, seek to understand, for only with understanding comes memorisation.

2) Tear down posters and other whats-not on your walls and paste big posters with important stuff(eg, formulae, QA) that you should remember but can't seem to remember. This way, you don't even have to waste time digging out your notes, just glimpse through them in a minute a day as early as possible. This is guranteed to work.

A scenario: I always have problem remembering the value of human reaction time, so I stuck a poster on the wall that stated HUMAN REACTION TIME IS 0.3 SECONDS, it's now stuck in my head. (:

3) Have a problem with time management? Sore wrists after writing 'Provisional Government' 395817598375983175 times in an essay? The worst that could happen in an exam is that you know every single context from back to front and vice versa, and there's not enough time for you to prove that, believe me. The only way? Change your style of holding your pen or handwriting. Remember, your o level cert does not state " Hand writing A1", however, the scenario will be just as horrible if whatever you've wrote (A1 material especially) can't be read and you end up having a grade that does not belong to you. However, you will notice by now that the hand alone will not be able to give you an A1, it can only ensure that you get the grade that's on par with your power of knowledge.

4) Plan your time. You have probably heard this a million and 3/4 times but if you've not done the former, this goes out to you ignorant/lazy/very deaf people. I cannot emphasize enough on the important of time planning, and be forward looking, a time table that states 6 hours of studying after school every day is just going to remain as a piece of paper if that is not within your exhaustment capacity. Plan your time smartly, not 'prettily' - unrealistic/ self-gratification towards the eyes only. If you know that your days are fluctuating with amounts of tests and ca's and tuitions and remedials and supplymentries and this and that and this and that - you get the picture, don't set time-barring study periods, you'd end up being unmotivated knowing that you're unable to fufil your goals. Instead, set up a "how many chapters I'm going to study a day/week" plan.

Study Time Planning for Dummies

1) List down the subjects and the number of chapters each subject has : ( if you're taking the normal 8 in 4N : We have 133 chapters to complete )

2) Draw out a time frame of subjects against week numbers.

3) Work backwards. If you haven't started your revision, divide 133 by the number of weeks to prelims and that will be the number of chapters you have to study per week to get your syllabus done for the prelims. However, if that, you feel is not within your capacity, please go to point four. If it is within your capacity, you may jump to point 5.

4) List down all those murderous topics with subject as headings that have the ability to create an urge within you to cringe and flip the page whenever you see a question in that context. Yes, when facing difficulties, do not become bitter, instead become better. Why not up your brain usage from 0.00003% to 0.00005%? (: Just kidding on that part, heh. Then, divide this number by the number of weeks to prelims. This will be your revised edition of your weekly number of chapters to complete.

5) Now that you have the number, keep in mind to plan every week on a Sunday. List down all topics that you aim to complete that week. This plan works because, you don't have day-goals, and is oh-so-flexible hectic schedule. **Remember the anti-pretty rule.

6) Fill out your time frame each week, stating the number of topics per chapter you studied, and count the total. (: By then, you should know by the number if you should pull up your socks or "relac sua".

7) All these should be done in one notebook. Don't scatter paper around, disorganisation creates headaches and memory loss. ** This has been tested before, I've been a fan of planning on scattered paper, it does not work, i repeat.

Seriously, at the end of your hectic life. You'd remember this point of your life, did you mind your own business and run alone in this race? For me, if i attained my straight A's and all my friends did not because I chose not to help them or had no time for them, my straight A's will just be a reminder of how many friends I let down, or rather, how I let myself down as a person. We leave this school with straight A's, yes, but let us not forget, our friends, a character of compassion, care and integrity.

A sunshining afternoon to my darling fournurture, and other passerbys,

It has been a year and a half since we first forged our silent promises to tie as one in our battle towards the o level's. To others who'd rather believe that we've not made any improvements, or are still doomed to fail, well, I won't make any empty promises, but it is evident, their faith in us we do not reciprocate.

As your class manager for half a year, and your sunshine, the 'metamorphosis' I've seen in our class, lest positive or negative, has indeed moulded others', our opinions about fournurture. Good or bad, we've braved through much storms together. Whether it was our class competitions, exams, daily #(%*(&^!$!$&!~*, incessant change of grouping and teachers. The result : I myself, have no rights to speak of.

When Mdm Suriadi described us all as 'selfish' yesterday, I'm not sure about you all, but I, felt the shame, I, felt the disappointment of her's. Who are we to judge when we retaliate when judged? Who are we to scorn, to label when ourselves are not worthy of? Even if I was not against the idea of being in the same fourwalled with 4U, the guilt, I shared with the class as one, because we were a class, we are one.

Happiness is of one's attainment, not one's reward. What have you done to achieve happiness? Is putting other's down in hypocrisy helping us to be happy? If so, then, I believe only your existence in body matters.

Besides all these lessons, (not nagging or chiding), I would like all my fellow classmates to know, we are class-mates after all, mates, mind you. If we don't walk together, helping one another, who will?

Strive on, but remember, strive on together.
